Does this company ever sleep? I swear in this past week alone they’ve released a green nine pan eyeshadow palette called “You’re in Luck”. There are also sneak peeks out of their spring collection which will be available on 14 March 2019. I want it all but I know I don’t need it, lol, the struggle continues. My fellow makeup addicts will understand.
Today I share my thought on the few items I purchased from the ShaylaXColourpop collection. For those of you who don’t know, Shayla Mitchell aka as “MakeupShayla” is a beauty Youtuber. I’ve been following her for a while because I love her reviews and her makeup looks are always on point.
When I heard about this collaboration I knew it would be great. Shayla is very fussy and keeps it 100% all the time so I had no doubt that her collection would be perfection. The complete collection includes an eyeshadow palette, 3 lux lipsticks, a gloss and 2 luster dust loose highlighters. I purchased the palette, gloss and one of the highlighters.
Perception eyeshadow palette – $23
Sneak peeks revealed the most stunning packaging ever. Those who know me, know that purple is my favourite colour so the packaging alone got my attention.
Shayla named the eyeshadow palette the “Perception” palette because when we look at paint (artwork), we all perceive it differently but all can relate. This palette is bigger than their 12 pan palette and comes in a square shape. It’s in their standard hard cardboard packaging with magnetic closure and large great quality mirror. The cover is matte black with purple and rose gold paint splatter. The attention to detail with this design is just absolutely beautiful. There are also shade names below each eyeshadow, which I knew she wouldn’t leave out because that’s one of her issues with some eyeshadow palettes.
Eyeshadows and Pigmentation
The palette includes 16 shadows ranging from warm neutral shades to cool brighter tones. I love that it contains your essential matte transition neutrals, golds, rose hues, smokey plums and bright pops of colour. You can create simple day time looks and transform that same look into a bold or smokey eye for an evening, formal or festive event.
There are 6 matte shades and 10 metallic shades. These matte shades are a dream to work with. I don’t know if it’s just me but they definitely feel a little different to the shadows in their normal 12 pan palettes. These shadows are pigmented, feel softer and blend with ease. Not that the others are problematic but these feel better. The metallic shades are out of this world. Shayla loves a good metallic shadow that doesn’t require much help in order for it to work beautifully and she made sure that the formula was faultless.

Ultra glossy lip in neat freak – $6
This is such a gorgeous peach champagne high shine gloss with pink and gold micro glitter. The glitter particles are really tiny so it there’s no gritty feeling. It feels smooth and non-sticky and one of those glosses that leaves the lips looking extra juicy. It comes in their standard tubes and with their older doe foot applicator.
Luster Dust Loose Highlighter I Boomin – $7
I was a little unsure if any of the highlighters would work for my skin tone. I decided to give Boomin a try because it was the lighter if the two. Boomin is a stunning bright gold shade and these luster dust highlighters are brilliantly bright. The formula is a soft metallic sheen with a pearl finish. It settles beautifully on the skin but does emphasize texture ever so slightly, so that’s something to be aware of. This shade is a tad bit too dark and only works when I’m really tanned.
Overall, I’m really impressed with the few items I purchased from the collection. The lipsticks look stunning but I’m probably repeating myself again but your girl has way too many lipsticks lol.
The eyeshadow palette is an absolute must-have. The shadows perform better than the shadows from the previous palettes. I think they’ve improved the formula.
The gloss is to die for. I’m not a gloss girl but I’ve reached for this soo often that I have to purchase a replacement.
Do you own anything from this collection and if so, what are your thoughts on it?
