Colourpop Series – Through My Eyes Collection Review

March is upon us and a new month means a new series on my blog. This month I’ll be sharing with you some of the Colourpop collaborations I own as well as my most reached for eyeshadow palette.

When I first saw sneak peeks of the ColourpopxIluvsarahii collaboration, I knew I had to jump on it. Karen aka Iluvsarahii is one of my favourite YouTubers. She’s not only absolutely stunning but also an amazing makeup artist. She’s definitely one of my go-to makeup artists on youtube. This collection didn’t only appeal to me because I’m a fan of Iluvsarahii but because of it’s uniqueness.

I didn’t purchase the whole collection because I have way too many lip products. This collection includes an eyeshadow palette as well as a set of 3 lip bundle. I purchased the palette and one lip product.

Through My Eyes Eyeshadow Palette – $23

Packaging

The design of the unicarton is really unique and innovative. I’ve honestly never seen anything like this done before. It has pictures of her beautiful eye all around and, believe me, this woman has stunning eyes. The actual palette comes in this beautiful emerald green with a kaleidoscope effect all around. It’s truly mesmerising. It also has a large great quality mirror on the inside and the shade names are printed on the top left side of each eyeshadow.

Eyeshadows and Pigmentation

The palette has 16 shadows, 7 of these are shimmers, 8 are mattes and 1 is a satin. When I first saw the colour scheme of this palette, I thought it was a pretty unique warm-toned palette with beautiful pops of colour. I haven’t seen anything like this from Colourpop. It’s not a very cohesive palette but this has forced me to play around with different colour combinations.

I have a few favourite shades that are in my opinion “to die for” and possibly the reason why I felt I needed this palette. The shades are Mesmer-eyez, Flecks and Emerald Dream. Mesmer-eyez and Flecks aren’t straight up shimmers, there’s something special to this formula. They have some glitter without the crazy fall out and gritty feeling. These shadows look absolutely dazzling on the eyes.

The mattes work beautiful and Divina is the only shade that I felt applied a little choppy, nothing too noticeable but these colour shadows are notorious for being a little hard to formulate.  It’s a shade that needs just a little more work, so blend, blend blend. Lol!

Ultra Gloss in the shade Glass Lip – $6

Packaging

I’ve seen some pictures of the lip trio packaging and the outer cardboard has pictures of her lips all around, same as with the single cartons and for those who are huge fans know that her lips are her trademark (truth), lol. I only purchased the gloss because it looked like something I would wear.

Formulation and wear

This gloss has a beautiful orange undertone with multi dimensional pinky/purplish reflects in it. This is also their newer high shine formula which feels moisturising on the lips. This formula also doesn’t feel sticky and it has a really lovely scent. It has just enough shine to give the lips that plump look and the reflects in it gives the illusion of bigger juicier lips. Their brush like applicator also allows for precise applications which I quite like.

Final Thoughts

I really love this collection because it’s unique yet wearable. I know a palette is really good when I’m drawn to it over others and since purchasing this palette, I find myself wanting to play around with it more.

Karen did an amazing job with this collection, in fact, she killed it. I would’ve bought the whole collection if I didn’t have so many lip products but I’m truly impressed with the palette and the lip gloss is gorgeous.

What do you guys think of this collection? Does it appeal to you?

XoXo

Yolanda
