ELF Mad For Matte 2 Eyeshadow Palette – Review and Swatches

Hey Lovelies
It’s day three and I’m SUPER excited about today’s post because I’ve seen so many videos of my favourite Youtuber ( yes, that’s Kathleen Lights, in case you didn’t know) raving about this brand. So you know I had to try some of their products. ELF had a 50% off Black Friday sale last year, so I jumped at this. The best part is that I didn’t get charged customs (happy dance). I’ll have another post up in the near future where I’ll share my thought on some of the other products but today’s focus is on the Mad for matte 2 eyeshadow palette.

Mad For Matte 2 – Summer Breeze

There are four of these mad for matte palettes. The other three being the Nude Mood,  Holy Smokes and Jewel Pop palettes. I chose the mad for matte 2 also known as the summer breeze palette because it leans towards warmer and neutral shades.

Packaging

There’s honestly nothing fancy about this packaging. The other box is black and has a picture of the actual shades of the palette on the front. When I removed the actual palette I was quite surprised by how small the palette was. The eyeshadows come housed in a plastic slim and compact chic looking casing. I love that they kept it practical and still managed to add a mirror on the inside.

Eyeshadows

This palette contains 10 matte eyeshadows. There’s a really good range of midtone warm to neutral shades and what I love the most is that it has two shades that I think should be staples in any palette if you’re looking for a complete palette, that being the cream light shade as well as a black shade. The eyeshadows themselves are very creamy, blend beautifully and very easy to work with. Elf really did an amazing job with the consistency of these eyeshadows in terms of the pigmentation and blendability.

I’ve swatched the eyeshadows below for you to see how true to colour they swatch. The cream shade is perfect to set your eyeshadow base and perfect as a brow bone and inner corner shade. There are a few transition shades with slightly different undertones. Some are warm and others a little more on the neutral side. The 5th shade is more of a purply grey cool shade, probably the coolest shade in the palette.

Overall Thoughts

I really love the size of this palette, I think it’s convenient and easy to travel with. The formula really took me by surprise because this palette only retails for $10 and I think with the quality of these eyeshadows that it’s easily worth more than $10. So if you’re looking for a complete matte eyeshadow palette with a variety of shades then I would definitely recommend this baby.

I created this look using mostly e.l.f products. The only thing that’s not elf on my face is the eye primer, mascara, eyeliner, lipliner and setting spray. I used the mad for matte palette and their pop of glitter in golden glitz on the eyes and really love the way this look turned out.
If you guys have tried this palette or any of the other two mad for matte palettes then comment below and let me know. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Stay tuned for tomorrows post where we’ll be reviewing palettes from a very well known drugstore brand that is really upping their game.
