Hope you guys are excited for the weekend, I know I am. So I can already tell that the seasons are changing and the way I normally know this, is when my fiance’s sinuses act up. Lol! It’s not funny but how awesome is it that I actually have a season change alarm? Jokes aside. Season changes can actually really affect one’s skin. Most of you know that I have a combination to oily skin type. I find that my skin becomes pretty dehydrated during drier and colder weather. Autumn is a transition season where the temperature drops as winter approaches. It’s not as dry as winter but I think one should prepare your skin well during autumn to counteract all the harsh environmental skin damage such as dry air, cold temperatures, strong winds and sun damage that can literally absorb the moisture from one’s skin, leaving it looking and feeling dehydrated.
So I wanted to share with you my thoughts on some of the kiki beauty products I’ve been testing out. I’ve been using these products religiously over the past few months and can now provide a detailed review. They have a makeup ready, skincare and hand & bodycare range.
I know so many of you are already familiar with the brand. I mean, how can you not? They are loved by so many beauty bloggers, makeup artists and influencers all over social media and there’s a reason why they are loved this much. If you’re keen on finding out exactly why then please keep on reading.

Makeup Ready range
I absolutely love that Kiki Beauty has a range of products available for one to prep one’s skin before makeup. Not only will this extend your makeup wear and provide a flawless finish but it also treats your skin preventing nasty clogged pores that usually result in unwanted breakouts. What I love about this range is that most of these products contain ingredients that can treat your skin even further. How great does it feel knowing that there are added benefits other than just applying skin prep products for the purpose of extending your makeup wear?
Natural Radiance Moisturizer – 50ml @ R360
The Radiance Moisturiser, Step 1 of the Make-Up Ready process, provides a surge of hydration and moisture as it works to revive the healthy tone and texture of the skin. This multi-tasking moisturiser will transform a dull and flat complexion into one that is youthfully radiant and gorgeously glowing. KiKi’s Natural Radiance Moisturiser is hydrating and creamy without being oily and heavy. Suitable for providing a balanced, healthy looking skin for both dry and oily skin types.
This product comes in a white tube with a black lid. All their products come packaged in a stunningly elegant black box with gorgeous glitter particles. This just screams out luxury. They honestly did so well with this packaging because it sure does give it an extravagant look and feel which adds to the experience.
I’ve used this product for a couple of months for the sake wanting to test it out using different foundations as well and seeing how well it wore on longer extremely busy days. I’ve tried this moisturiser using matte, full coverage foundations, semi-matte as well as velvety or sheerer foundations.
I apply a pea size all over my face, making sure to apply underneath the eyes as well as my smiles lines. I feel that when these areas aren’t moisturised well that my foundation tends to sink into those fine lines. The consistency is quite thin and feels a tad bit tacky which is a good thing because this will help with any makeup adhering to the skin as well as the wear of the makeup. I did find that it takes a while to dry down so the key is to moisturise and give your skin a good 2-3 min or so before applying a primer. The moisturiser once dried feels lightweight, almost feels like there isn’t any product on the skin. This is the one thing I love about it because I have an extremely oily t-zone and there’s nothing worse than feeling the product on your skin. This didn’t feel or look greasy at all so I knew we were off to a good start.
I then applied my Kiki beauty primer ( which I will discuss below) and the rest of my makeup and then set it using the Kiki Cool citrus setting spray.
I find that for me the moisturiser works better with matte and semi-matte foundations because it gives my skin a youthful luminosity so that my makeup doesn’t look flat and cakey. There’s still a gorgeous afterglow even after I set my foundation with powder which I absolutely love.
I found that when I applied the moisturiser before using velvety more sheer/lustrous foundations that my t-zone got oily around the 7-8 hour mark, which isn’t bad at all considering my extremely oily t-zone. This doesn’t have anything to do with the moisturiser itself but rather the consistency of the foundation simply because my oils seep through after about 5 hours of wear when I’m using these kinds of foundations without a matte primer.
Rose wax lip balm – 10ml @ R180
It’s essential to hydrate your lips before applying any lipstick or liquid lipsticks. To get a better absorption make sure to let it sit for at least 5min. I apply mine after priming my face and once I’m ready to apply my lip product I purse my lips on a piece of tissue just to get rid of the excess product.
“KiKi’s Make-Up Ready Rose Wax Lip Balm is a rich, buttery, rose infused lip balm to intensely hydrate those lovely lips and leave a radiant, dewy finish. The unique Rose Wax Lip Balm can be used as a primer (Step 2 of the Make-Up Ready process) and is applied beneath lipstick to hydrate the lips and provide a soft, smooth surface to allow for easy lipstick application and maximum hold.”
This lip balm comes in a pink tube with black cap. It’s once again packaged in their stunning black and glitter designed boxes. I love that the slanted applicator is attached to the actual tube. I prefer these types of applicators in a lip balm.
The consistency of this lip balm is pretty thick. This is a good thing especially if you want the lip balm to stay put for longer. Like I mentioned above, I apply the lip balm before applying any lip products. I also love applying it in the evening before bed, it literally stays on my bedside table. This is an intensely moisturising lip balm that leaves the lips plump, hydrated and super soft the next morning.
Face Primer – 50ml @ R395
I’ve really come to love face primers. The more products I use the more I learn how to match specific formulas and finishes with different foundations. I’m learning how my skin reacts to different textures and have really been enjoying trying out different products.
“KiKi’s Make-Up Ready Face Primer is a product specially designed and formulated to improve make-up hold and transform your complexion from flat to fabulous. KiKi’s Face Primer, Step 2 of the Make-Up Ready process, is applied before foundation leaving you gorgeous and flawless for hours on end. If you don’t wear foundation, don’t worry, this innovative and versatile fragrance free primer used by itself provides a natural finished look.”
Can we just take a moment to appreciate this well thought out packaging? The container is black and comes with a twist pump which I absolutely love. No messes! Yes, please!
I’ll be honest, when I first tested this product on the back of my hand, I thought it wouldn’t work out for my combination to oily skin type. It looked and felt more like a moisturiser and I felt quite bummed. I still decided to give it a proper go and I’m so happy I did. The texture feels partly creamy yet lightweight. It sinks into the skin pretty quickly and does fill in pores to create a smooth canvas before applying foundation.
What I love most about this primer is that it’s not your usual silicone based primer. It’s super hydrating and also adds to a more radiant finish to your makeup. I prefer applying it when I use matte foundations because it gives added luminance to the skin.
Cool Citrus Setting Spray – 100ml @ R245
I swear I don’t know how I’ve managed to go all this time without setting sprays. I only started introducing this step about 3 years ago and it has really stepped up my makeup game.
“KiKi’s Make-Up Ready Cool Citrus Setting Spray is a gorgeous, light and silky, citrus enriched product which is sprayed over your make-up in order to set and hold it for longer periods of time. KiKi’s Make-Up Ready Cool Citrus Setting Spray, Step 5 of the Make-Up Ready process, not only locks down your makeup, but spraying on this extra fine mist also gives you a refreshing boost. Don’t let those dry days get you down. The Cool Citrus Setting Spray can also act as a secret weapon to provide instant moisture and hydration.”
This setting spray comes in a 100ml black spray bottle with a goldish wrap around the bottle. I love that the nozzle is designed to spritz the spray evenly. It’s not super fine to a point where you can’t feel anything. I think it’s a perfect size and works effectively. There’s nothing worse than an uneven spray that ruins your makeup.
I was a little worried that the scent might be a little too much considering that it’s a citrus setting spray and was pleased that it was quite subtle. If you’ve been staying clear from this setting spray because you’re worried that the scent might be too overpowering, then fear not ladies. It’s really easy on the nose.
This spray is an all in one. You can spray it before applying your makeup to provide a lovely layer of moisture and a smooth canvas for your foundation. It also helps blend the makeup beautifully, making it look less powdery. It works great as a setting spray and what I love the most is how light and refreshing it feels on the skin. Some setting sprays once set feel a bit stiff, almost as if it has created a sort of a film on the skin.
I also love spraying it over my face during the day when I feel my skin is looking a little lacklustre, just for that added boost. It provides a delightful radiance.
Eye Renewal cream – 15ml @ R290
The skin around the eyes is the most delicate, this is precisely why it needs a little extra TLC. I started using eye creams from the age of 21 and I only had fine lines, nothing too crazy. I just felt that taking care of my skin from a young age will slow down the ageing clock and I’m glad I did. I’ve also been very mindful of how I handle the area around my eyes, eg. when it itches I don’t scratch it like I would the rest of my body. I also apply eye cream using my ring fingers and hardly place any pressure.
” KiKi’s Eye Renewal Cream is a gentle, fragrance free, under eye product which brightens and smooths the under eye area. The eye renewal cream also assists in reducing the appearance of dark circles, bags and fine lines beneath the eyes. Twice a day application of the Eye Renewal Cream can leave your eyes looking revived and restored for a younger more radiant looking you.”
This tube looks identical to the lip balm tube except it’s white. I prefer this as I think it’s more hygienic.
I thankfully don’t have dark circles or bags, so I can’t comment on whether it helps with those types of concerns. I do have fine lines and I love that this eye cream is light and absorbs quickly. The key is to keep the under eye area well moisturised and this eye cream provides great moisture, leaving the skin feeling revitalized. I store my eye creams in the fridge for that added cooling and revive look and feel around the eyes. I love this especially for mornings after a restless night when I look tired. It just gives that instant awaken look. So definitely try this, you’ll thank me later!
These products were part of my very first Kiki beauty purchase and they were kind enough to give some for free as well as add some sample sachets of other products in their collection. I’ve really been loving this brand and love even more that they are a made in South Africa.
Their packaging just screams out elegance and their products really do live up to the claims. They very often have promotions running, so if you want to keep up to date then make sure to follow them on their social platforms.
I’ll have a part 2 and 3 (Yes I have that many products lol) of the other products I’ve been using and share my thoughts in the next few weeks. Hope you guys enjoyed this post. Let me know if you tried any of their products and if you’ve loved them as much as I have?
