Morphe X KathleenLights palette review and swatches

Hi Stunners
Hope you are all doing well and enjoying this absolutely stunning Thursday. If you follow me on Instagram you would’ve noticed that I posted a picture where I’m wearing green eyeshadow (Yes, green eyeshadow lol) and mentioned that I would do a review on the Morphe X Kathleen Lights eyeshadow palette.

I’ve been itching to finally sit down and do my very first makeup review so you can only imagine how excited I am about this.
So many ladies have spoken about the Morphe palettes. I’ve however been a little reluctant to purchase a palette because of all the mixed reviews. Some bloggers have mentioned that some of the eyeshadows can be a little chalky and not easy to blend. I suppose if you consider how many eyeshadows come in one palette then having a few that are a little chalky isn’t really a big deal (or at least for me). When I found out that Morphe was collaborating with Kathleen Lights, who happens to be one of my favourite youtube gurus, to create a palette, I was super keen. So this is in a sense also a first impressions review post on the brand. How exciting?? Let’s get to it!
Morphe is a well-known afforable makeup brand that so many are talking about. Famous Youtube gurus like Jacklin Hill, Manny Mau, and soo many others have been raving about this brand. Morphe is known for their eyeshadow palettes and brushes but if you look at their website you’ll see that they do offer many other makeup products. They have collaborated with many other youtubers and Kathleen Lights happens to be one of them.
Morphe and Kathleen Lights created a 15 piece limited edition eyeshadow palette that has a mixture of metallic, mattes and satin shades/finishes.

K –  The first shade is a champayne shade (shimmer finish). I’ve used this shade as an inner corner highlight.
A – Next we have a white shadow with a beige hint to it (matte finish). I mix this one and the one above to highlight my browbone.
T – This shade is the perfect warm orange peachy shade (satin finish). I use this as a crease shade, it really adds such great warmth to any look which really seems to be trending.
H – Here we have a gold shadow (metallic finish). I don’t think I could ever get enough of gold shades. They are just to die for and this specific one is super creamy and easy to apply on the lid.
L – Kathleen Lights describes this shade as a cranberry shade (shimmer finish) but if you look at the swatches you’ll notice some brown tones. Its a great colour to use all over the lid.
E – This one is a little tricky to describe. I would say its a blackish greyish shades (satin finish). Shades like these are great for creating a smokey eye that so many of us love when we want to be daring.
E – This one is an unusual shade. It’s described to be a mixture of purple, silver, and taupe (metallic finish). This is another one of those you can use on your lid when creating a smokey eye.
N – This is a light bronzy shade (metallic finish). I find that using a brush doesn’t work too well with this shade so I either spray a little M.A.C fix + on the brush or I use my finger to apply it to my lid.
Here we have a cranberry shade that is perfect to use for ones crease (matte finish). And the best part is that it blends beautifully.
L – I know so many ladies are loving the deep cranberry shades and this is exactly what this shade is described as (matte finish). Most of the eyeshadows I’ve mentioned so far are easy to blend. Unfortunately this one takes a tad more work to get the pigment you want.
I – This is a rather unusual but entriging shade. It’s a forest green shade with emerald hints to it (satin finish). This shade is so wearable and I honestly didnt think I would love it as much as I do.
G – And now for the 1 shade that completely stands out. An electrifying green that is becoming one of my new favourite colours (metallic finish). I always use to say that I’m not a green person but I’ve officially been converted.
H – Adjacent to the popping green is a red/brown warm toned shade (matte finish).  This is a must have in any collection. Great to warm up any look and especially great for smokey eyes.
T –  I didnt think this shade would suit me. A light mustard brown (matte finish). Once i played around with it I realised that its perfect when you just want to create an easy everyday look.
S – Last but not least we have a black shade (matte finish). This is the only other shade apart from the one mentioned above, that takes a little more effort to blend. I don’t mind this because it sort of prevents one from going overboard with the shade. This can easily happen especially for heavy-handed beginners such as myself. Lol!

My thoughts:

This palette was limited edition so you, unfortunately, won’t be able to purchase it from the Morphe website. I purchased mine from Pink Cosmetics. Pink Cosmetics is a Cape Town based online store that not only sells AMAZING artisan crafted Bath and body products but they also import authentic international beauty brands. This palette is currently sold out on their website but they are restocking soon. So best you keep your eyes peeled to check when they become available and MAKE SURE you get your hands on one.
Their services are absolutely incredible. They respond immediately to any queries and regularly keep you updated on your order. I’m based in Johannesburg and my parcel arrived within 3 days. They deliver everywhere in South Africa, so do yourself a favour and have a look at their website, I know you’ll find something you’ll love and I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed.
Back to the palette. lol! Kathleen did a great job at ensuring that this palette has everything you could need. From warm tones to cool tones and even a pop of colour. Oh and even a black shade (YAY!). What more could one ask for? The majority of these shades are sensationally smooth and a dream to blend. The versatility of this palette makes it a great buy because you can create many looks, that includes everyday looks, a smokey eye and the fun pop of colour daring look (of which I’ve officially become a fan of). Below are some looks I’ve created using this palette!

The packaging is kept pretty simple, nothing fancy but still cute, chic and classy ( Lol! CCC- I think this describes Kathleen). It’s made from cardboard and clips close with magnets.

Would I recommend this palette? Absolutely YES! It has a good range of shades and one can see that Kathleen put her heart into this. The formulation is great and I haven’t experienced any fallout. So this gets a HUGE thumbs up from me and I’m pleased that I haven’t been disappointed by Morphe as a brand. Sucks that this specific palette is limited edition but thanks to Pink Cosmetics you’re still able to add this to your collection (while stock last of course).
Hope you’ve enjoyed this read. Please share your thought if you already own this palette. Sharing some of your looks would be even better. Let us inspire one another to be more creative.

Toodles Stunners!
